BOOK VOYAGE: An Epic Read Around the Globe!

2021 Summer Reading Program

Dates: July 1st – September 3rd

Are you ready to go on an unforgettable journey from the comfort of your favorite reading spot? We’re calling the 2021 reading challenge Book Voyage: Read Around the Globe because you’ll get to experience every continent and the vastly different landscapes and amazing cultures that make up our beautiful planet. The Family Engagement staff is ready to be your travel guides as we read around the globe to discover how we are all connected. Starting July 1st you can sign up in the children’s room and start your fantastic adventures and earn some cool prizes along the way! 

• Sign up for our program! Stop by the children’s room to register and pick up your reading log!
• Read, read, read! All you need to do is read, be read to, or listen to any books (non-library books count!) and mark off a section of the reading log when you’ve completed 20 minutes of reading! If you need suggestions of what to read, ask us, check out some of our reading lists here or grab a brochure from the children’s room.
• Tell us you’ve finished! After September 3rd, the end date of summer reading, turn in your completed log. 
• Pick out your book! Free books and finisher certificates will be available September 7th – 17th! 

Early Literacy Fun

Babies love literacy, too! Stop by the library to request an early literacy summer reading packet: you’ll get a free sheet of activities and a book to share with your little one! (Ages 0 – 3).

General FAQs

What do I have to read? You can read anything you like! You can also count listening to someone reading to you, or listening to audio books. You do not need to read only library books or count library materials. Kids 3+ who are not yet reading on their own may sign up for the Summer reading program and keep track of the time someone spends reading to them! 

How long do I have to finish? Summer reading runs from July 1st – September 3rd. After September 3rd, turn in your completed log and pick a prize! Prizes and finisher certificates will be available September 7th – 17th!

May I complete the program more than once? Because we have to make sure there are enough prizes for everyone, you may only complete the program once.
