Mad Inventors Workshops Sparked Imaginations
We had a total of 32 kids attend our three Mad Inventors Workshop sessions on Tuesday, November 6. After listening to library assistant Rick Lepage read The Flying Hockey Stick, by Jolly Roger Bradfield, kids set to work making their own inventions by attaching various do-dads, whatsits, and other interesting recycled objects to a wooden base. Some kids made spaceships, airplanes, pirate ships–even a vaccum cleaner and a “mouse wedding pavilion.” Images of some of the many creative inventions are in the gallery below.
Future Craft Programs
Rick will be offering after school craft programs in the future. If you think your children might be interested in attending these programs, please help us plan by filling out a brief survey.
Save Your Do-Dads!
You can also help us by saving interesting objects you might otherwise throw out or recycle, such as bottle caps, corks, lids for orange juice containers, twist ties, and anything else that might make an interesting addition to a creative project (take a look at some of the photos below to get some ideas of the kinds of things that might be useful!) If you have objects to donate, please drop them off at the children’s library reference desk. Thanks!
