Adler, C. S. Always and Forever Friends
♥♥♥♥♥ I like how C.S. Adler wrote about real stuff that can really happen to girls like Wendy. There was nothing I didn’t like! I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! EB
♥♥♥♥ It was a very nice story, and I like how the author uses his words. They made me feel like I was there! Sometimes it was a little confusing. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! SL
♥♥♥♥ I like how at the end Wendy finally got a best friend. Also I could relate to things in the book so I could understand it really well. I didn’t like that Ingrid treats Wendy not very nice. Like she said, “I’m not going to your party if Jeremy is going to be there.” If it’s Wendy’s party, she should be able to invite anyone she wants. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! LC 5/1/07
♥♥♥♥ This book was about this girl whose best friend had just moved away. She is sad at first but then becomes eager to find a new best friend. Her wish is for a new girl to come to school for her to befriend and soon a pretty girl comes. Unfortunately, the girl is very pushy with the new student and even though she is only trying to be nice, the new girl thinks she’s weird and doesn’t hang out with her. But the book ends happily when the girl finds a best friend in one of her classmates. I wouldn’t recommend this book to a friend because the theme was a bit young for my age group. But I would definitely recommend this book to kids in grades 4, 5, or 6. It’s very interesting and well-written and younger kids are sure to enjoy it. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! JA 2/9/08
♥♥♥ This book is about a girl, Wendy. Her best friend, Meg, moved to Thailand. Now Wendy is friendless. A girl moves into Wanda’s class. She tries to make friends, but the “new girl” is too boring. She soon makes friends with her new neighbor Honor. I would recommend this book to a friend. It is very interesting–especially Wendy’s sister, Ellen! Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! ED
Adler, C. S. Eddie’s Blue-Winged Dragon
♥♥♥♥ I liked the book because it had beautiful words and I can almost feel his fear while he was reading his “What I love about books” report. I didn’t like Miss Clark. She seems to try to lower Eddie’s self-esteem. And Darrin–he’s just plain Evil. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! NG
♥♥♥♥ I liked all of the description in this book. I also like all of the characters, and how C. S. Adler had them all different. I couldn’t put this book down once I got into it. ♥♥♥♥ This book is about a blue-winged dragon that, whenever Eddie gets made at someone, he attacks. He grows bigger and bigger and turns into a real dragon. Eddie gets captured by Darrin (a bully) and then Darrin almost goes to jail. Eddie thinks it’s because of the dragon. I would recommend this book to a friend because I liked how C. S. Adler put in a lot of feelings. ES 3/26/08
Adler, C. S. Ghost Brother
♥♥♥♥♥ In this book, Wally’s brother Jon-o died when he tried to save a kid from going over the falls. Ever since then Jon-o has been coming to Wally in a Spirit. Wally tries a skateboarding competition over a ditch and fails. Jon-o’s spirit gives Wally advice on how to skateboard. I recommend this book to a friend because… I like the way C. S. Adler made Wally hate Aunt Flo, who makes him stay in instead of skateboarding. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! ES 1/26/08
Adler, C. S. The Magic of the Glits
♥♥♥♥ This book was about a boy that had to take care of a 7 – 8 year old girl. He makes up these things called “glits.” The girl’s mother downed and died. I would recommend this book to a friend. It was an all around good book. It was a very exciting book. I loved it. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! WG 6/27/08

Then mysterious things start happening to the collage, like car accidents. In the end, the teacher says that she did the things on purpose because she knew they were doing it. I would recommend this book to a friend because it makes you very anxious to read more because it is very exciting. JJ 3/17/08
Adler, C. S. The Shell Lady’s Daughter
♥♥♥♥ I really liked the parts when Kelly and her grandmother got along. I liked the whole thing. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! JA
♥♥♥♥♥ This book was about a girl who had to go to her grandparent’s house in Florida for the summer. She didn’t know why, but it was something to do with her mother. It’s very hard for her there because her grandma can get a little bit annoyed and her grandfather has Alzheimer’s. I would recommend this book to a friend because it was very exciting and it was really hard to be patient to read it. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! JJ 3/19/08

♥♥♥♥♥ In this book, Chris and Jackie have to go to Grandmother Wallace’s house, who they don’t even know. Chris finds a silver coach that brings you wherever you want to go. Chris thinks her dad loves her best, but does he? I think some people might like this book if they believe in fantasy. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! ED 1/26/08
Aiken, Joan. Bridle the Wind
♥♥♥♥ I really liked the way you don’t get one of the character’s full story until the end. I also liked the way they escaped the enemy each time. I really didn’t like the beginning or the very end of the book. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! JA
Aiken, Joan. Dido and Pa

Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! SO
Aiken, Joan. The Faithless Lollybird
♥♥♥♥♥ I liked most of the short stories in this book. I thought that they were very interesting and well-written. They were exciting and made me feel like I was right there. I thought that one of them was kind of boring. “Kiss Your Hand to the Magpie” was so long that I was bored. That was the only one that I thought was dull, confusing, and too long. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! AB 47/07
♥♥♥♥♥ This book is a treasury of stories. But my favorite is the main story. “The Faithless Lollybird” was about two weavers. They make the most beautiful cloth. Then, one day, the lollybird leaves the man. Then the man follows the faithless lollybird. And that’s the story. I would like others to read and live the sadness and adventure in this book, and all the other wonderful things people might find. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! IY 10/11/08
Aiken, Joan. Go Saddle the Sea
♥♥♥ I liked that Felix has to overcome before he can finally complete his goal–and find a little love along the way. The only thing I didn’t like is that the story (main idea) isn’t very original and can be a little boring. I would recommend this book to a friend, but reading it didn’t make me want to read other books by this author. TB 5/11/07
Aiken, Joan. The Last Slice of Rainbow
♥♥♥♥♥ The book was nine good fairy tale-ish stories. All the stories were great, but my favorite one was “The Spider in the Bath.” The book is 144 pages long. I might recommend this because the stories were good, but the pictures kind of scare me! Reading this book kind of made me want to read other books by this author. ED 6/27/08

♥♥♥½ I liked how he had a rainbow. I thought it was funny that the Kelpie pretended to be a turtle. I also liked how he lost his dream. I didn’t really like that it was short stories. I also t thought it was too short. I would probably recommend it for younger kids. I thought Joan Aiken’s other books were much better. I would not recommend this book to a friend, but I would like to read other books by this author.OS 5/23/07
♥ I liked the characters, but I thought the stories were very dull. I would not recommend this book to a friend, and I don’t want to read other books by this author. AD 6/10/07

Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! IY 10/4/08
♥♥♥♥♥ This was a long book with lots of stories. It is all fantasy tales. The first story is about a slice of rainbow. It is sort of like fables. Would I recommend this book to a friend? Yes and no, because if you like fantasy, yes, if you don’t, no. I really liked it because all the stories have one thing: magic. ES 5/17/08
Aiken, Joan. Mortimer’s Cross
♥♥♥♥ I liked the funny things that Mortimer was doing. I liked how Arabel would always disappear the moment Mortimer did and leave her dad looking for both of them. The one thing I did not like about this book was in the last story. The dinosaur sunk into the bag and that was it. I thought that story should have been mainly about the dinosaur instead of just one page. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! AB 4/17/07
Aiken, Joan. The Teeth of the Gale
♥♥♥ I liked that the book talked about children and had children as some characters. And it was adventurous. I didn’t like that the characters shot a mother bear and a baby bear. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author. SO 4/25/07
Alcock, Vivien The Cuckoo Sister
♥♥♥♥ I liked the end when Louise’s husband comes to Kate’s house and shows the birth certificate and explained everything that Louise had done. With that, it proved that Rose is really Emma and Kate is very happy to have her sister Emma back. I didn’t like how they didn’t use proper grammar. That made it a little hard to know what the characters were saying to each other. You definitely need to read the book slow to understand it. Also I didn’t like it when Rose/Emma kept locking herself in her room. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! LC 4/12/07
♥♥♥ I liked that the book didn’t have a ton of main characters so it was easy to remember who was who. There wasn’t anything I can think of that I didn’t like, except that it took me a while to get into it. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! EB
Alcock, Vivien The Haunting of Cassie Palmer
♥♥♥½ This book was about a girl named Cassie Palmer. Cassie is the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, which as old myth goes means she can sea ghosts. When Cassie starts to develop this strange gift and starts seeing ghosts what will she do? Read to find out! I would recommend this book because it is written very well and has a good plot. This book does sometimes lack action. I liked how the book was written though at some points it can confusing. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys fantasy and suspense. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author. HG 6/13/09
Alcock, Vivien The Monster Garden
♥♥♥½ I liked the storyline about how this girl has a monster and about how the monster grows up and how when it asked to be picked up it would whistle. It would be cool if I had one. I didn’t really dislike anything in the book, except one tiny little thing: when she was writing in her journal about the monster that it said “M” for Monnie for short but I figured it out in like a couple of seconds. I would recommend this book to a friend, but it didn’t make me want to read other books by this author. MB 5/21/07

When it almost cost them their lives, will they turn back or continue? I would recommend this book because there is always action and it is written very well. It is sometimes confusing. Beyer, Audrey White. The Sapphire Pendant

♥♥♥♥ I really liked this book. It was suspenseful and had a very good storyline. One of my favorite parts was when Jackson “borrowed” his mom’s car just to try and help his babysitter. It’s hard to find a bad think about this book, but I had to choose something, I would say that the book is too confusing. What I mean is it is hard to follow in some parts. They’ll be talking about one thing, then suddenly mention another. That sort of thing. Byars, Betsy. The Cybil War

Conford, Ellen. Seven Days to a Brand New Me
♥♥♥½ I liked that once Maddy gave herself a chance and was confident, her whole outlook on the world changed. She was happier, and she drastically changed in only a week. At times, this book tends to get repetitive; Maddy is complaining about how awful she and her life is, and what she could’ve done to get Adam to like her. Holt, Kimberly Willis. When Zachary Beaver Came to Town
♥♥♥♥♥ Toby and Cal lived in Antler, a lazy Texan town, when Zachary Beaver arrived in a trailer covered with Christmas lights, the one and only act in a sideshow. Zachary is also the fattest boy in the world. Over the summer that Zachary stays, Toby has to face his mother’s departure in hope of country music stardom, his best friend’s brother dying in Vietnam, winning over Scarlett Stalling, and learning to accept Zachary Beaver. I would most definitely recommend this book to a friend. The book is very relatable, and I think that most people would find they have a thing or two in common with the characters, and who can’t like a relatable book? And in the beginning, Zachary is seen as a rude pig, and selfish, too, but by the end of it, you come to sympathize with Zachary and see that he’s actually a great person. That right there shows an example of how you “should never judge a book by its cover”–and isn’t that really the purpose of the Lonely Books Club? Lots of odd things happened, including a suspicious fire at the back of the building. Nick ends up having lots of time to think about it when he stays overnight in the house with his friend, Sam. I would recommend this book to a friend because it was really exciting to read. It is also really hard to stop reading it. I read it in a day, it was so good. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good book to read. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! AB 2/19/08
Rodowsky, Colby. Dog Days
♥♥♥ I liked the way the author describes Sandy the Superdog as just an image in someone’s imagination. I also liked how the main character became friends with the person she said she hated. I didn’t like how predictable the book was. I would not recommend this book to a friend, but I would like to read other books by this author. JA 6/8/07

Slepian, Jan. The Broccoli Tapes
♥♥♥♥ I really liked the fact that it’s about animals and humans all at the same time. It is also about family, friends, and the exotic lava fields of Hawaii. It was really fun to read because it has so many plot lines. The fact that Sara’s and Sam’s grandmother died made it really sad and the fact that Eddie’s dad doesn’t really care about Eddie. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! EP 6/6/07
♥♥♥ The book as about… Once upon a time a girl named Sara went to Hawaii. In Hawaii she met a boy and a cat. She had freed the cat from being stuck in the rocks. She’d been giving it food ever since. If you like to read about animals you will probably like this story. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author! ES 5/17/08
Slepian, Jan. The Mind Reader
♥♥♥♥♥ One night, when Leo Leondar is too drunk to perform his vaudeville act as The Amazing Leondar, his son, Connie Leondar, covers for him, donning his father’s garb and facing the audience. That night, Connie realizes that he really can read minds. The circuit manager, upon discovering Connie’s secret, sees him as the ticket to success and money. Connie, miserable from the act, runs away with fellow “vaudeville brat” Annie and they embark on a journey that forever alters them. Yes, I most certainly would recommend this to a friend. There’s hardly anything that isn’t amazing and good about this book, just that some of the narrating is confusing–really, that’s all. But the narration issue is barely noticeable when you’re deep into the book, which you no doubt will be when reading The Mind Reader. Slote, Alfred. Clone Catcher
♥♥♥♥♥ In this book, Arthur Dunn has to find a rich man’s wife’s clone, or she will die. So he looks and looks and looks for her and finds her. But her clone was acting as her. She had died three nights ago of natural causes. The clone did not want to go to her because she thinks clones should live to. I would recommend this book to a friend because it has lots of action and exciting elements. Reading this book sort of made me want to read other books by this author. AD
Snyder, Zilpha Keatley. The Headless Cupid
♥♥♥ I really liked all of the excitement and plot and sub-plot lines that made the story work. I also liked the way characters thought and explained things. Sommer-Bodenberg, Angela. The Vampire Moves In
♥♥♥ I thought that this book was pretty funny. I didn’t like the beginning of the book because she seemed to assume that Tony’s friends were real vampires. I also wasn’t big on the ending. I just think Tony should have responded to Anna at the end. I might recommend this book to a friend, but reading it didn’t make me want to read other books by this author. AB 9/28/07
♥♥♥ I liked the detail about the vampires, but I don’t like how there is not much detail about the vampire’s ball. I would not recommend this book to a friend. Reading it did not make me want to read other books by this author. MB 9/29/07
Springstubb, Tricia. With a Name Like Lulu, Who Needs More Trouble?
♥♥♥♥ I liked how almost every night Lulu and Tilda would go out to the baseball field and Tilda would help Lulu on her catching, throwing, and batting. All that hard work paid off when Lulu hit her first hit at double of the season. I didn’t like when Lulu caught Jenny and when Lulu brought her in the apartment building Tilda pulled Lulu by the collar of her shirt and dragged her into her apartment. Also in the beginning of the book Lulu wouldn’t eat Chinese food and I love Chinese food. Also it felt as if at the ending there was something missing. I would recommend this book to a friend. Reading this book made me want to read other books by this author. LC 4/7/08

Thomas, Jane Resh. The Comeback Dog
♥♥ The Comeback Dog is about a boy named Daniel. He used to have a dog named Captain, but Captain died. Now Daniel finds a dirty, sick, and tired female dog, that later he names Lady. When Lady gets better she is not like Captain at all. Daniel doesn’t like that, but when she runs away, Daniel misses her and when she comes back, she has tangled with a porcupine. When Daniel fixes her up AGAIN he learns to love her as he loved Captain, even though they were very different. Would I recommend this book to a friend? Well, that is a hard decision. I liked it because you felt for the characters and it told a dog and true friendship story. I didn’t like it because it’s too short for me and was a bit sad and at times there was not enough description. But overall it was okay.
