Library Safety Announcement
The Thomas Memorial Library is now under construction. The town is working very closely with the construction manager to ensure maximum precautions for the safety of patrons, children and others on the adjacent playground, and for a safe working environment for on-site staff and construction workers.
The safety precautions include maintaining a separation of construction activity from ongoing daily use of the facilities. Yet, at times with deliveries and equipment moving in and out, everyone will need to be vigilant and careful.
There will at times be dust and noise from the construction. Efforts will be made to mitigate any dust and to have noisy work done outside hours that might disturb other operations.
All materials that are potentially hazardous such as asbestos tile dust are being handled by personnel certified to handle such materials. All such materials are being removed at the outset of the project utilizing industry standards.
Please do not enter into areas behind barriers and signage that demark construction activity zones.
If you or your child have dust sensitivity, please inform the Cape Elizabeth Facilities Department at the outset of any problem. Please ask your child to let their teacher know if they are bothered by dust so that mitigation may occur.
Any safety related concerns or questions should be directed to Greg Marles, Facilities Manager, at 799-9574.
Thank you for your understanding and your cooperation. We all look forward to a new library at the end of 2015.
