We have a number of volunteer opportunities for high school students who are interested in helping out this fall:
Time Keepers for Read to Winston: Beginning this week, we have a therapy dog coming to the library to help kids overcome reading difficulties. Kids register for 15 minute time sessions to read to Winston, a Golden Retriever. We need volunteers who would like to keep let kids know when it is their turn to read to Winston, and let them know when their time is up. Winston will be here most Wednesdays from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Star Wars Reads Day, Saturday, October 6: We need some creative volunteers who can help plan events for Star Wars Reads Day, which will be a day devoted to Star Wars and literacy! Events might include craft stations, trivia games, costume contests, Gedi training, etc. Star Wars fans are especially encouraged to participate!
General library volunteer work: We always need help with shelving, bulletin board displays, and assistance with children’s programs!
If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please call librarian Rachel Davis at 799-1720, or email her here.
