On Saturday, March 9, Glenshane Irish Folk Duo will be presenting a concert of Irish songs from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the library’s Community Room.
Together Jean and John Nesbitt form Glenshane.John grew up in County Derry, Northern Ireland listening to all the traditional musicians of the day. Jean is a native New Englander, whose musical influences range from Broadway to Bach and rhythm and blues to folk. The duo have been performing together for 30 years. They met when John was a member of The Bards Irish Folk Group from Ireland, and Jean was performing with The Faculty, a cover band.
Glenshane’s performance of songs from Ireland and the British Isles range from touching to toe-tapping. John’s humorous stories and Irish wit are sure to win over the hearts of all present. The duo’s vocal harmonies are accompanied by guitar, bass, harmonica, penny whistle, and piano melodica. The concert is free!
