In September of 2013, the Thomas Memorial Library was selected to become national network of libraries known as Family Place Libraries, an initiative that helps libraries develop their full potential as community hubs for healthy child and family development, parent and community involvement and lifelong learning beginning at birth.
We are joining the network as part of $450,000 National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. As a selected library, we are the recipient of a $10,000 grant through the Family Place Libraries project, which will provide training, resources, technical assistance, and ongoing support for the library’s development as a Family Place Library. In early November of 2013, Children’s Librarian/Assistant Director Rachel Davis attended the first phase of training in Centerreach, NY. In October of 2014, the Thomas Memorial Library officially became part of the Family Place Network.
