For ages 3 and up
Kids keep track of the time they spend reading, or the time they spend listening to someone read aloud, and earn prizes from our Treasure Chest! (School-aged kids may do this program in addition to the Bedtime Math program.)
Register in Person or Online
Stop by the library to register in person to pick up a reading record, or register online to download and print a reading record (beginning June 15.) The reading record is in the form of map kids will use to keep track of time spent reading or listening to books read aloud. Kids may read or listen to any type of books they like! For every 30 minutes spent reading or listening, kids color in one space on the reading record. When they reach a circle, they have earned a prize from our Treasure Chest! When they finish–after 25 hours of listening or reading–kids will receive a ribbon and a coupon for a free ice cream at Gelato Fiasco!
Going Away?
This is a self-directed program–kids do not need to come into the library every week, or at any particular time. If kids go away to camp or on vacation, they can take their reading record with them and pick up their prizes when they return. Please note: The library will be CLOSED and inaccessible to the public from July 20 through August 1 due to construction, so kids will not be able to pick up prizes during that time.
Do you recognize the artwork for this year’s reading program? They are characters from the Platypus Police Squad squad series, by Jarrett Krosoczka!
