We are pleased to bring one of our favorite performers back to the library this summer! Children’s educator and entertainer Danny Lion (a.k.a. Dan Flannery) will present a special concert for little ones on Saturday, August 11 at 10:30 a.m.
Dan’s first solo CD, “First Songs,” came out in 2014. He also has previously recorded four award-winning CDs for children with his brother Mike as The Flannery Brothers. Dan and Mike started the Flannery Brothers in 2007. In 2010, Dan was accepted into the Eliot Pearson School of Child Development at Tufts University where he earned his master’s degree in Child Development, and worked as a preschool teacher. He was also the recipient of the 2011 Fred Rogers’ Memorial Scholarship. After graduating, Dan moved to Maine and took a position as a lead preschool teacher at the Bowdoin College Children’s Center. In addition, he was the music teacher at the school, and drew most of the inspiration for “First Songs” from his weekly music groups.
Danny Lion is now based in New York City, but he sometimes makes a special trip up here to see us! Below are some terrific videos of the Flannery Brothers performing songs written by Dan!
